A country of impressive length on the west coast of South America, Chile promises an extraordinary trip. From the snowy peaks of the Andes Cordillera to the scorched deserts, each step promises experiences that will linger in your mind for a long time to come!

Breathtaking scenery from north to south

Chile is first and foremost an enticing destination for its natural attractions. In the country’s north, explore the Atacama Desert, one of the most arid on the planet and where the night sky is one of the clearest you’ll ever get to see. Down south, Torres del Paine National Park, famed for its eternally snow-capped mountains, crystal-clear lakes and ancient glaciers is a paradise for hiking. In Chilean Patagonia, sail across deep glacial fjords, admire the sight of lush forests and encounter all kinds of impressive wildlife along the way, from condors to guanacos. Beach lovers won’t feel hard done by either: the sunshine coasts of Valparaíso and Viña del Mar are ideal for some downtime on the sand or water sports on the waves.

Rich history and vibrant cities

Chilean culture is an intriguing mix of Indigenous, colonial and contemporary influences. In the Chilean capital Santiago, expect to find dynamic museums and art galleries, not to mention a thriving dining scene. Wine aficionados won’t have to travel far to relish the wines of Chile’s top white wine region, the Casablanca Valley, on the outskirts of Santiago. On the coast, visit the house and museum of poet Pablo Neruda in Valparaíso, a brightly colourful and bohemian city, now declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its unique architecture. Make your next port of call the island of Chiloé, a destination renowned for its wooden churches in a traditional style that also put the island on UNESCO’s radar. Round off your trip by immersing yourself in the traditions of Chile’s Indigenous peoples, such as the Mapuche in the Araucania region, before catching a flight over to Easter Island, some 1,200 miles from the coast of Chile. Can you get to the bottom of the mysteries of the 900 massive monolithic statues, the famous moaï that have kept watch over the Chilean island for almost a thousand years?
